Hello, I'm Michael de Groot (I AM GROOT), a passionate individual driven by creativity, storytelling, and exploring the ever-evolving world of digital media. With a diverse background and a strong entrepreneurial spirit, I have navigated through various projects and experiences, always seeking new opportunities for growth and innovation.
The pandemic posed unprecedented challenges, halting my whiteboard animations business. I chose to embrace the power of resilience and adaptability, allowing me to redirect my creative energy toward new endeavours.
In May 2022, I had the privilege of interviewing Clinton Young on my podcast, exploring his passion for Pickleball. Pickleball, often described as a fusion of tennis, badminton, and table tennis, has witnessed an extraordinary surge in popularity in recent years. With its simple rules and accessibility to players of all ages and skill levels, it has quickly become the fastest growing sport in the USA. Recognising the immense potential and untapped opportunities within the Pickleball community, I sought to explore avenues that would allow me to contribute to its growth and development within my local area of Worcestershire.
Driven by curiosity, I embarked on an extensive research journey, seeking to understand the dynamics of the local Pickleball landscape, I discovered the absence of local infrastructure and awareness for the sport. Determined to bridge this gap, I spearheaded its introduction in my local area. With strategic partnerships, community engagement and coaching, I strive to establish a thriving local Pickleball community promoting camaraderie and an active lifestyle. Pickleball England, the official recognised body in England has supported me greatly in getting things going.
Beyond Pickleball, I possess a wealth of experience in the realms of digital media and content creation. With a solid foundation in whiteboard animation, I have harnessed the power of visual storytelling to engage audiences and convey complex ideas in a captivating manner. Project management, creative direction, and client relations have enriched my repertoire, emphasising effective communication and building connections.
