Staying Realistic
I like your article, so positive and so upbeat, it reminds me of lockdown 1.0, when human nature was very supportive and upbeat indeed, even though many humans started stockpiling foods and toilet roll, but let’s ignore those COVID idiots because whenever the chips are down some of us go low. I saw many examples locally of people volunteering and supporting elderly neighbours with their shopping, out clapping for the UK’s National Health Service every week, oh it made you feel warm inside.
But then after lockdown, human nature took a turn for the worst, basically instead of being careful they went partying and infecting each other, yes this happened mainly amongst the young and then slowly it spread to older ages and back into the elderly.
The innovative imaginative mind of the human was more like, I want to survive and find happiness at all costs and therefore I want to go back to normal. Our most of basic needs always win out.
I like the positivity for sure but I’m also realistic, underneath it all, we always want things to be how they were before, they won’t be, they will stay challenging for at least 3–5 years, just being realistic. Of course we will be changing the way we work, rest and play, of course we will, but that’s also just a feature of survival.
As governments will fight it out between them on who will be able to get the most vaccines, the rest of us will fight in the streets over food and toilet paper and who won the US election.
We have a long way to go my friend, but I like your positive note and thank you for keeping us hopeful and optimistic!
